A cross country course at the ranch is an option for those who would like to take a break from trail riding. Originally created by Mel Fox who missed her fox hunting days, there are around 80 jumps to be enjoyed in two different sessions during the week. It is not an intimidating course since no jump is more than three foot and there are a wide variety of obstacles including logs, oxers, pickets, coops, walls and drops. Because the horses used are primarily western trail horses it is important that the riders who wish to participate have an independent seat and hands. Guests are required to warm up over small jumps in the arena to make sure they will not interfere with their mounts. Once everyone is comfortable we move outside and take four or five jumps at a time following a leader.
